BlogHospital could lose all federal payments
Posted by: David Patton Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa could lose all federal payments for patient care because of serious problems. Some included preventable deaths. Staff members restrained a highly medicated, 25-year-old man with schizophrenia in such a way that he was allowed to suffocate. As a team of state inspectors looked into the case in April, another preventable death occurred at Sharp Grossmont. Other problems included nurses who did not know proper CPR, unsafe storage and handling of food and kitchen equipment, and use of critical medictions such as heparin that had expired up to a year earlier. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20080730-9999-1n30sharp.htmlTopics
